DAY ONE: San Juan to Ponce

♦ Day 1: ... through the following towns and in this order: San Juan, Carolina, Loíza, Río Grande, Luquillo, Fajardo, Ceiba, Naguabo, Humacao, Yabucoa, Maunabo, Patillas, Arroyo, Guayama, Salinas, Santa Isabel, Juana Díaz, & Ponce.

The first day of the Vuelta is the longest and for some, the most challenging. It begins in historic Old San Juan and heads east past some of the most popular beaches on the island. We then continue to the breakfast rest stop in Fajardo, famous for its proximity to the El Yunque National Rain Forest and the Blue Flag beach of Luquillo. From there, you will continue eastbound riding through Naguabo, Humacao and Yabucoa where the road will climb to the top of Camino Nuevo. Take a moment at the top to enjoy the view before a fast descent to lunch at the Punta Tuna lighthouse. Then it is a 60-mile spin "dashing" into Ponce for dinner (on your own), dancing and/or going for a well-deserved night’s rest.
